This article will have all the detail and written step by step instructions on “Free One Page WordPress Website Tutorial“. The free One Page WordPress Website will be created using the “Elementor” Visual Builder and the OceanWP WordPress Theme. These tools are absolutely free and I use other plugins which are free to achieve professional functionality and design. This is similar to the tutorial I created earlier that is about “How to Build a Free WordPress Website 2018“. That tutorial is a full traditional Website with many different pages.
This tutorial will be about the one page WordPress website. So what is the difference between a traditional Website and the One Page WordPress Website. First off, I am not going to tell you that one is better than the other because it all comes down to business needs. Lets say you are writing a new mobile app and would like to create a landing page with some information about you, the app, the technology it is built with and a few reviews e.t.c. A Single Page WordPress website is definitely the solution that I will go with in this scenario as I do not have a ton of content. I would rather have a single slick and modern layout than worrying about the SEO Detail and I simply want to get started with my new online business Idea.
So typically One Page websites are a bit more flashy than the traditional counterparts. The menu (navigation) links to different sections on the home page. This is typically achieved with “anchor links”. The theme supports Smooth scrolling and that is one of the reasons I use this theme.
Additionally the tool used to design the layout is great for people not very familiar with HTML and CSS. They have an idea about how their website should look and they want to build the layout visually. Enjoy the Tutorial and make sure to Subscribe to my Youtube Channel as a lot of fresh content will be coming up about WordPress.
You can get the basic set up for a One Page WordPress Website in about 20 minutes with all the free, state of the art tools available to assist you with your project. You can look at my YouTube Video for Video instructions and I am documenting all the steps over here for audience who likes to follow written documentation. Also because things can change in a WordPress Theme so in that case to update the Video is challenging. It is just easier to update the written instructions.
Step 1: Set up WordPress on Your Hosting Account:
Before I write anything about this, let me tell you that the most important factor that will determine your website’s performance is your hosting. There is a lot of difference in different hosting companies. The hands down best Shared Hosting that I have used is SiteGround Hosting. I am not saying that because I am an affiliate with SiteGround. I am an affiliate with almost every hosting company out there but I only recommend what I have used and for Good Reason. Some of the Reasons that I like SiteGround and dont find these things available on other hosting services is the usage of PHP 7, Excellent Support, Highly configured Servers (With Solid State Drives and high RAM), high default Memory configuration of WordPress Instances, Ton of WordPress tools, 1 click Installers, Free SSL Certificates and to top it all, an affordable price. If you are reading this in time for Holiday sales you will get a 70% discount by simply following my link here.
The steps I list to install WordPress are based on SiteGround’s CPANEL and shown in my video. You can feel free to follow along and skip the steps if you are using another hosting company and have your WordPress Instance Installed.
Step 2: Download my Installation File
Once you have a WordPress Instance Installed, you can simply download free the Import File below. You can save it to your computer
Step 3. Import my Installation File
Now you simply need to import my installation file. I show that in the video at
Step 4: Customize your site with Elementor and the Visual Tools:
